This summer, I want to encourage all of our players to grow not just as hockey players, but as teammates, leaders, and great people. Reading is a great way to build the mindset and character that help us succeed on and off the ice. Below are a few books I personally recommend to help you develop confidence, resilience, leadership, and a strong sense of teamwork.

📚 Recommended Books

You Are a Champion by Marcus Rashford

A motivational and empowering book written specifically for young athletes. It’s filled with advice on how to believe in yourself, work hard, and make a difference—on your team and in your community.

The Young Champion’s Mind by Dr. Jim Afremow

A guide to developing the mental side of your game. Learn how to stay focused, handle pressure, bounce back from mistakes, and train like a true champion.

Hockey Hero by Zachary Hyman

A fun, fictional story written by an NHL player about a kid with big hockey dreams. It’s about perseverance, belief, and chasing your goals—even when things get tough.

I hope you’ll consider picking up one of these books this summer. You don’t have to write anything or turn anything in—just enjoy the story, and think about how the lessons apply to you as a player and teammate.
